Brief History of the Department: Department of Philosophy The Department of Philosophy first came into existence in the year 1970, with the introduction of Arts Stream in the college, named as Pre-University Arts(Classes XI and XII) under affiliation to Guwahati University of Assam. In 1987, permanent affiliation from North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, to conduct 3 Year B.A Philosophy Honours Course, where Final Examinations were held by the affiliating University annually. At present, we offer the same degree under Semester System since 2015.
