First came into existence in 1969 with the introduction of the Pre-University Science & B.Sc Pass Course affiliated to Guwahati University, Assam. In 1986 -87, permanent affiliation for B.Sc Chemistry Honours under North Easter Hill University (NEHU), Shillong. At present, Department offers the B.Sc Honours Semester Programme under NEHU since 2015.
