The department of Zoology first came into existence in the year 1972, with the introduction of science stream in the college, names as Pre-University Science (First year and Second year) under affiliation to North Eastern Hills University (NEHU), Shillong. In 1984 a two-year degree pass course was introduced, which was later upgraded to a three-year degree Honours course in 1993 with permanent affiliation from NEHU, Shillong, where final examinations were held by the affiliating University annually. At present, we offer the same degree under semester system since 2015.
