Commerce education was introduced partially for the first time in Jaintia Hills District of Meghalaya when ‘Book-keeping’ and ‘Commercial Arithmetic’ were offered by the College as optional subjects in Pre-university (PU) Arts. Mr M. C. Sharma was the only lecturer appointed then to teach these subjects. In 1993, Mr Sharma was replaced by Mr H Toi who was appointed lecturer in Commerce at Tura Government College, Tura by way of mutual transfer. In 1997 a full fledge commerce stream was started in Pre-University level under NEHU University. Subsequently, in 2001 a temporary affiliation was granted by NEHU to conducts 3 year B.Com degree (pass).In 2007, the university allowed our departments to conduct both pass and honours courses. At present we offer honours degree under semester system since 2015
