The Department of Botany first came into existence in the year 1972, with the introduction of Science Stream in the college, named as Pre-University Science (First year & Second year) under affiliation to North Eastern Hill University, Shillong. In 1984, the course introduced a two years degree pass course of which is upgraded to three years degree honours course in 1993 with permanent affiliation from North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, to conduct 3 Year B.Sc Botany Honours Course, where Final Examinations were held by the affiliating University annually. At present, we offer the same degree under Semester System since 2015
