ABOUT THE COLLEGE:

Established in 1967, Kiang Nangbah Government College Jowai is a premier institution of Higher Education in the West Jaiñtia Hills District of Meghalaya and one of the Government Colleges, which was established in the state. Located in a vast and well-maintained campus conducive for academic activities, the college offers Arts, Science and Commerce courses the Degree level. The college campus contains a football field, a basketball court, a badminton court, a volleyball court and a full-fledged auditorium to give ample facilities to its students for extra-curricular activities. The college has 13 departments and is managed by well qualified Teachers and support staff. The college at present caters to a number of students from all over Jaiñtia Hills, and offers Degree courses in the Arts, Science and Commerce Streams. Starting from very humble origins, Kiang Nangbah Government College has grown into a multi-faculty institution and has striven, since its inception, to turn the youth of Meghalaya, particularly Jaiñtia Hills, into leaders of their own society: politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen, doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers etc.

IGNOU special study center

The College also has an IGNOU Special Study Centre (Code No. 1811 D). IGNOU was founded to serve the Indian population by means of Distance and Open Education. IGNOU provides opportunities for enhancing educational levels for the jobholders, house wives, and aged persons who do not get time to attend regular classes and those who have not been permitted to take admission in different colleges due to long gap.

Library

KIANG NANGBAH GOVERNMENT COLLEGE (KNGC) library was previously known as Jowai Government College Library. This very same library started functioning right from the inception of this college i.e., since the year 1967 and extended its services to the students, faculty and staff.

MEGHALAYA GOVERNMENT COLLEGE TEACHERS’ASSOCIATION(MGCTA)

The Meghalaya Government College Teachers’ Association which is popularly known as MGCTA was registered under Government of Meghalaya vide Registration No. SR/TMGCTA-11/89 OF 1989. The MGCTA was formed with a purpose to safeguard and improve the general conditions of service of all its members individually and collectively.

Hostel

Kiang-Nangbah College has a girls as well as boys hostel which is walking distance from the college and these hostels also include a mess that provides home cooked meals to the students.

Canteen

College canteen is centrally located in the College campus where it can be easily access by students and staff. Our Canteen is run by canteen manager and cleanliness is one of the very important criteria where the manager have to follow to avoid the unnecessarily illness.
