Kiang Nangbah Govt College came into existence in the year 1967 and along with it the Department of Political Science was introduced in the Arts Stream in the college, named as Pre-University Arts (Classes XI and XII) under affiliation to Guwahati University of Assam.In 1987, permanent affiliation from North Eastern Hill University, Shillong was granted to conduct 3 Years B.A Political Science Honours Course, where Final Examinations were held by the affiliating University annually. At present, we offer the same degree under Semester System introduced by NEHU since 2015
