History was introduced as one of the subject in the setting up of the college in 1967 as part of the Arts Stream named as Pre-university courses affiliated to the Gauhati University. After permanent affiliation from NEHU, the 3 years under-Graduate courses was introduced and the annual examination was conducted by the affiliating University. The Semester system was introduced in 2015 with the same degree courses and the Semester end examination was conducted by the affiliating University.
