ABOUT THE COLLEGE

Established in 1967, Kiang Nangbah Government College Jowai is a premier institution of Higher Education in the Jaintia Hills District of Meghalaya and one of the only two Government Colleges, which were established in the state. Located in a vast and well-maintained campus conducive for academic activities, the college offers Higher Secondary Arts, Science and Commerce courses; while at Degree level it offers Honours and Pass courses in Arts, Science and Commerce. The college campus contains a football field, a basketball court, a badminton court, a volleyball court and a full-fledged auditorium to give ample facilities to its students for extra-curricular activities. The college has 14 departments with staff strength of about 120 (75 teaching staff and 45 support staff). The college at present caters to over 2500 students, including the Morning Section, which offers Higher Secondary and Degree courses in Arts Stream. Starting from a very humble origin, Kiang Nangbah Government College has grown into a multi-faculty institution and has striven, since its inception, to turn the youths of Meghalaya, particularly, Jaintia Hills into leaders of their own society: politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen, doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers etc.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Applications for admission in the College in the prescribed forms will be accepted immediately after the publication of the HSLC/HSSLC Results exams conducted by the MBOSE. Each application must be accompanied by:

  1. An Attested copy of the Mark Sheet of the last examination passed.
  2. One recent Passport size photograph of the student.

Once selected for admission the admission form must be accompanied by :

  1. A testimonial of character from the Principal of the school/college last attended.
  2. An Attested copy of the Mark Sheet of the last examination passed.
  3. One recent Passport size photograph of the student.
  4. Scheduled Tribe/Caste Certificate/ OBC Certificate.
  5. Original Transfer Certificate from the school/college last attended.

Admission forms not having all the required documents will not be accepted.

Students coming from Universities/Boards other than NEHU/ MBOSE should have to submit Migration Certificate not later than one month from the date of admission. When admission is granted, the prescribed fees along with the completed admission form with all necessary documents must be deposited at the college office on the stipulated date and time otherwise the admission will stand cancelled.

COURSES OF STUDYAND SUBJECTS ADMISSIBLE

The college offers courses in Arts (Day and Morning Section), Science and Commerce (Day Section only). The selection of the deserving candidates is made on the basis of merit subject to the availability of seats. The college is affiliated to the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) for the Graduate Degree Courses in Arts/Science/Commerce. The duration of these courses is for three years.
